Balance is definitely a word that I am familiar with. Whilst I will be the first to say that I am not an overly organised person I do manage to juggle all my commitments and most of the time I stay sane!! I guess I have been doing it for a number of years now, balancing training, working, socialising and resting; so I have become quite accustomed to it.
For me, the quicker I get into a routine the better it is for me. Training is usually quite structured so I know where I have to be and at what time. This is helpful when planning things like work and social time because I can work around training times. Often I have to go from one commitment to another commitment so I have to plan ahead and be organised. In the mornings I will pack a bag with the different changes of clothes I need for the day, my toiletries (dove products of course!!) and always make sure I have enough food to get me through the day! I have been known to forget vital pieces of clothing when going from training to work or the other way round, but most of the time I get it right!
By nature I am not a highly strung person, I have quite a relaxed personality so for me I think this helps. If I forget something or am running late for an appointment it generally doesn’t stress me out too much.
I am however quite renowned for not giving myself enough time for different appointments. I often underestimate how long something will take me, so for example I will pack my day full with commitments and never be able to fit them all in. This is something that I am getting better at and someone once told me to double however long I think something will take me. This seems to work quite well if I do it!
