When people ask me what my hobby is, or when I get to that particular section of my CV, I always feel a little under-accomplished. I don’t really have a hobby. I think it’s because my work is so creatively exhausting, not to mention all-consuming, that my down-time is usually about doing nothing.
Sometimes literally: just hanging out on the couch. Or else doing easy low-stress activities like yoga, reading, cooking, walking my dog. I’d love to be able to stitch up a quilt or knit a jumper or strum a guitar or make a wind chime (okay, perhaps not that last one), but I just don’t really have the energy to learn. I think it’s important to have a creative outlet if you don’t find your work so satisfying, but I’m one of those people whose work often feels like a hobby.
So adding any other hobby into my life, well it would actually feel too much like work!
