Q & A with Karen Cheng
What’s important and what’s not!

I love to make large New Year resolutions! But the reality is that I often get distracted, discouraged and lose sight of the big picture.

So I find it really important to make monthly and weekly goals. It helps me remember my priorities, especially what’s important and what’s not. At the end of each month, I celebrate my achievements AND reprioritise my goals. It’s a great boost to my confidence, and sustains my enthusiasm for living a fulfilling life.

Some of my goals for this year:

For my health, I started playing netball for a team, running more regularly, eating more wholegrains, cooking meals with less meat, and taking better care of my skin.

For my career development, I’m self-learning a new language, trying to be a more disciplined writer, trying to read more, and trying to wake up at 6am each morning. I’m also developing my photography abilities and practicing more efficient networking skills!

I resolved to do things NOW that I want to do before I  die!  So I took some Latin dance lessons. Last year I did some paintings and held an art exhibition with some friends. And I went scuba diving with sharks for my birthday!

i have the same problems with my new year resolutions too! so i decided to stop making them, and just stick with smaller, more attainable goals throughout the year :)
